What is the V1 pen for?

The V1 is laboratory handling equipment. It is a precision instrument for measuring and dispensing research materials in a laboratory setting, in the same way a pipette or a graduated syringe is. It is not supplied for human or veterinary use.

Is the cartridge replaceable?

Yes. The 3ml borosilicate cartridge is removable and replaceable, which is the point of a reusable instrument. The body is built to outlast many cartridges.

Why borosilicate rather than plastic?

Type I borosilicate is chemically inert, so it does not leach into or adsorb what it holds, and it tolerates thermal cycling without crazing. Plastic does neither reliably.

What does 0.01ml increments mean?

The dial advances in detented steps, each corresponding to 0.01ml of travel. Each step is a discrete click you can feel, so a volume can be set by touch and confirmed through the numeral aperture.

Anodised, not painted

The colour is grown into the surface of the aluminium through anodising, not sprayed on top of it. It does not chip off at the edges after a month in a drawer.

Type I borosilicate

Chemically inert, thermally stable, graduated and sterile. Glass that does not interact with what it holds.

Detented dial

Every 0.01ml is a click you can feel. Volume is set by touch and confirmed through the aperture, not squinted at.

Built to be reused

A machined body, a replaceable cartridge and a hard case. The disposable alternative is a false economy and a waste stream.
